Diakalin at Square Street Gallery
Diakalin [means] trying to make do or find some sort of solution in an improvised manner. I find the existence of this phrase in different languages particularly interesting.
Necessity is the mother of invention, 頂住先, Голь на выдумку хитра — I bet lots of languages have their version of it. In some cultures it is narrowed down to purely practical things, in others it’s applied broadly. In some cultures this phrase is associated with only specific socioeconomic conditions, in others it’s a mindset, almost a philosophy.
Whatever it is called it is creative by definition, has its charm and wit, and quite often is related to community.
