Karl Horst Hödicke: Eingedunkelt at Leo Gallery

  • Hong Kong Hong Kong (map)

Leo Gallery is proud to present – Eingedunkelt, the first Hong Kong solo exhibition of renowned German artist, Karl Horst Hödicke.

The show title takes its inspiration from a poem of the French poet, Paul Celan – “Eingedunkelt”, which translates to benighted, an absolute darkness. It is an ambiguous state between the night and dawn, containing countless possibilities. As one of the most significant contemporary German neo-expressionist, Hödicke paints with genuine emotions, in a wild and enthusiastic style. Having been through the turmoil in the ‘darkest moment’ of German politics, he concerned about the fate of the nation, as well as the joys and sorrows of the people. The pain, struggles, and hope that he has endured and expressed, echoed the destiny of mankind. It is undeniable that a new era has arrived.

Gallery address: SOHO 189 Art Lane, 189 Queen's Road West
