deTour 2020. Matter of Life at PMQ

deTour‘s Design Festival will be held at PMQ from 27 November to 6 December 2020. As the largest design festival in Hong Kong, deTour 2020 celebrates works and ideas from around 15 designers and designer units both locally and internationally. For the first time, deTour will also launch an online virtual festival, alongside the physical one, for an immersive experience to connect audiences from all corners of the world. deTour 2020 will divide its physical and virtual festival into the following three main sections:

International Collaboration: deTour invites internationally renowned creative studio Whatever Inc. to join the festival. Their immersive installation FLOCK will celebrate life and people coming together virtually in the world of COVID. Visitors will be invited to experience the installation at PMQ. Audiences from around the world can also interact with FLOCK via deTour 2020’s website.

Feature Exhibition: four leading local and international design units whose work focuses on solution design will be featured. The following will be presented at this year’s festival: CoLab, New Office Works, NOSIGNER and Synoptic Office.

Selected Entries: Through an Open Call, deTour 2020 selected ten exceptional works from creative proposals by local and international designers which reflects different issues, including aona & Cou Tou Wood Working, Riyo Chan and Obie Chan duo, Chris Cheung, Wilf Cho, Common Ground Design, Orient Occident Atelier, WARE, WHITEGROUND, the trio Arnold Wong, Keith Chan & Stephen Ip, and XPLOR.
