Vitalis Violentia at Podium Gallery

Is there a need for violence? Why can’t we just all live in a perfect harmonious Apollonian world?
Investigating the theme of violence one will inevitably realize the need for the destruction that often comes with each and every act of creation. After all, even homeostasis, so important for the survival of living organisms, is not a static equilibrium, both catabolic and anabolic processes are necessary for the dynamic balance. A lot of brutal, violent acts can be at the very beginning of something — be it the Big Bang or the birth of a child — that kind of violence has sparked something, it was a ripple, a change. So should we embrace and justify violence or should we try to tame it?
There’s no simple universal answer, of course, but avoiding any violence will logically lead to non-living.
