Dylan DeRose: Order of Operations at PHD Group Art
They do look like they have just emerged from the walls of a gallery, revealing velvety vermiculated surfaces, don’t they? Curiously enough they are vermiculated in the most literal way: these wavy grooves are made by worms eating their way out of polystyrene blocks. From the very first time I saw Dylan’s artworks I have perceived them as ancient clay or stone tablets with indistinguishable traces of carvings or scripts, where all primary meaning and context is lost so all that’s left for us are obscure guesses.
Exhibition period: 12.11—21.01
