Brian Rochefort: Freddie Mercury at Massimo de Carlo

Brian Rochefort: Freddie Mercury at Massimo de Carlo

Ooze. Magma. Whipped cream. Glop. Crust. Slush. Cake glaze. Spray foam. Melted ice cream. Goop. All these words can come to your mind but Freddie Mercury definitely won’t be among them. So what’s the connection? While traveling through Tanzania and Zanzibar Rochefort kept seeing Freddie Mercury related imagery without knowing that the singer was born there. So after experiencing this unexpected connection the artist reflected on Queen’s music with a deeper and richer understanding, seeing in it merge of modernity and tradition. So pay attention to the titles: each sculpture is a reference to either region, or to Freddie Mercury personally.
