Leo Gallery is thrilled to present Wu Jiannan’s first solo exhibition with us in Hong Kong on 19 Sept 2024. The exhibition will showcase the artist’s various series of sculptures and the development of his creative practice in a cross-cultural context.
Living and working in both the US and China, in recent years, Wu’s work has consisted mainly of two types: one involves the recreation and transformation of collective memory through public images, and the other represents feelings and perceptions formed from personal life experiences. The former is related to social contexts, where the events and scenes depicted in the works can be traced back through the dissemination of media images. The latter is fictional, resembling a dreamlike creation, with no public images as reference.
