Gay Games, the world’s largest inclusive sports, arts & culture event, has an amazing and powerful history of celebrating the human body. The Goethe-Institut is proud to present this story, in collaboration with the Gay Games, through the exhibition "Beyond Strength: A Retrospective Exhibition of Gay Games, 1982-2022" from November 10 – 26, 2022 in the Goethe-Gallery and Black Box Studio. The exhibition is co-curated by Jiaming Liao, Jeff Li and Tien Li.
In 2023, 40 years after the inaugural edition of Gay Games, Hong Kong will be the first city in Asia to host the 11th edition of the Gay Games. Curated by Gay Games Hong Kong, the exhibition showcases a series of photographs that look back at treasured moments captured by event photographers which are preserved for history. Video works created by Hong Kong artists, together with historical video materials archived by local LGBTQUA+ organizations will also be presented in the exhibition.
