Tetsumi Kudo: Cages at Hauser&Wirth

Tetsumi Kudo: Cages at Hauser&Wirth

Grotesque, nightmarish and Giger-ish — if he ever would choose to use neon colors — small caged habitats of phallic slugs can be seen as observation and critique of controlled society in general, or a take on personal feelings of helplessness and despair. Neon colors and feeders filled with pills immediately give away sicklish impression. However there’s undeniable humour and playfulness in these works and a certain amount of coziness. One of my favorite exhibitions of this summer.

Exhibition period: 31.05–31.08
Gallery address: G/F, 8 Queen’s Road Central, Central
