Selling exhibition “Foujita/Sanyu: Muses and Models” at Phillips X
Two masters of Japanese and Chinese origins, had their careers in Paris, and quite obviously had some common visual grounds: though the lines they used were emotionally different, there’s still an elusive calligraphic quality in it. And the usage of white space immediately evokes core concepts of Asian classical painting.
