Ryunosuke Okazaki: Oracle at Tang Contemporary Art (WCH)

Fascinating sculptures that at first glance resembled a visual record of a ribbon dance turned out to be inspired by the Jōmon pottery — a “rope-patterned” type of ancient Japanese earthenware.
The title of the exhibition refers to records of communications with kami-like entities, messengers of gods, sent to express their will. With a certain type of imagination it’s not too difficult to see them in these dynamic fabric sculptures.
