Faces of Gaia at 10 Chancery Lane Gallery
The title not only refers to a Greek primordial goddess, anthropomorphic representation of a planet Earth, but also to the Gaia hypothesis, developed in 70s by James Lovelock (amazing last name btw). He proposed the idea of Earth as immensely complex super-organism, where all parts of a system are intertwined and interdependent but also evolved into a self-regulating homeostasis system. Very beautiful and ambitious idea and definitely not something achievable of humanity continue to create devastating imbalance.
So please see this exhibition not only as a showcase of beautiful artworks but as a reminder of our fragile world.
Featuring four women artists Zoë Marden, Christine Nguyen, Katrina Leigh Mendoza Raimann and Jessica Zoob.
