Alicja Kwade: Pretopia at Tai Kwun Contemporary

In response to the former prison building, Alicja Kwade transformed the exhibition space into a perpetual liminal and timeless place. Blinking lights, impossible clocks, slightly disturbing humming sounds, the labyrinth of grates and mirrors — all representing the passage of time and the passive act of waiting. The whole room by now should be measured in clock hands, a literal and meaning/ful/less measurement of the space/time.
Waiting Pavilions, outdoor installations commissioned for the Prison Yard, will remain on view for the entire year.
