Yok Joaquin (Filipino, b. April 16, 1998) is known for his clean and simple style of painting. He also experiments with the possibilities of combining his aesthetics with architecture, fashion, and other mediums.
Yok's works transcend the simplicity in everyday life and situations. Based on his architectural background, Yok creates art with combining clean lines and simple figures in his unique style. Under his distinctive painting vocabulary that is different from the traditional art that we are used to such as the effusive sun and clouds, the dog-like fantasy creatures with human expression, as well as the naked women with pure body rhythm.
The viewer can assimilate into the artworks itself directly instead of getting lost in complex and resplendent art criticism. Behind the absurd vigor and childishness, there is a sense of unworldliness in Yok's artworks.
