From the classical to the modern era, still life painting has evolved beyond mere imitation into a sophisticated art form. This exhibition juxtaposes a sixteenth-century Flemish still life by Wouter Mertens with modernist interpretations by Sanyu, Bernard Cathelin, and Pierre Boncompain, as well as works by other contemporary artists. Spanning eras and styles, these pieces invite viewers to appreciate the genre's ongoing vitality and capacity to expand creative possibilities within its deceptively simple subject matter.
