Crafts on Peel announces its third thematic exhibition in Hong Kong - Stories Encapsulated: Wood, featuring creations in wood handcrafted by local and overseas craftsmen. The exhibition and accompanying public programs will run from 22 January to 21 May 2022. Stories Encapsulated: Wood is co-curated by Penelope Luk, Creative Director of Crafts on Peel, and Ken Chow, carpenter and founder of Yat Muk Studio, and will also celebrate Crafts on Peel’s second anniversary since its launch in January 2020.
The exhibition will present nine collaborative works in wood by traditional craftsmen and contemporary artisans in Hong Kong, as well as other local and overseas creations in wood. Highlighting the traditional history of wood crafting techniques to its contemporary adaptations in Hong Kong today, each work in this exhibition is imbued with the passion and effort from the craftsmen throughout the making process. Selected pieces from overseas craftsmen will also be exhibited alongside local craftsmen, allowing visitors to view these craft works in a global context.
