Axel Vervoordt Gallery is pleased to present the first solo exhibition by Belgian artist Lucia Bru (b. 1970, Brussels) in Hong Kong. The exhibition will showcase a series of new sculptural and video installations, that create a delicate dialogue between the vulnerability of the naked object and the surrounding space. Some of the works were inspired by her trip to Hong Kong in 2019.

Lucia Bru’s sculptural installations are a delicate dialogue between the vulnerability of the naked object and the surrounding space in which it tries to find its place. Spatial details — be they real or virtually abstract concepts — are isolated, accentuated, and elaborated in an object. They are given a monumentality, which destabilises the viewer and makes them more aware of their own body in time and space.
