The Art Projects Gallery presents the latest works by Ng Lung Wai (b.1971) in the solo exhibition titled “Every Colour is Blessed”. Ng Lung Wai is known for his origami folded using acrylic paint, a technique that he created. Ng initiates these series of folding paint work by questioning the possibilities and the definitions of painting. The unique technique creates works that borders between the 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional states.
The folded clothes series are featured in this exhibition. Ng questions the philosophical meaning of colors in the sense of aesthetics, gender and social norms. Ng Lung Wai tries to see colours in a personified way, giving values to every color that human perceives.
According to Ng, the color selections in his artworks are inspired by the colour palette of Tibetan Prayer Flags that symbolises and promotes peace, compassion, strength and wisdom. Tibetans believe that the prayers will spread to the world along with the flow of the wind, a philosophy that Ng resonates with. Ng aspires to spread blessings to the world through his art.
