Yrellag Gallery is honored to present Remaining and gone, the solo exhibition of the Hong Kong visual artist Matthew Tsang Man Fu, opening on 5th August 2023 at the Central Gallery. Presenting one of the series of works which created by the artist during his residency in Kyoto earlier this year.
"Remaining and Gone" represents a continuation of the charcoal and tin foil of his large-scale sculpture "Before Collapse" (2018), and adds visual elements such as resin-molded objects, light, and sound to construct a multimedia installation. Through exploring issues such as material, transformation, elapse, and loss, the work reveals the artist's experiences on changes in people and the environment.
Tsang's art practice revolves around the links between objects and materials and their perception and physical characteristics. He creates installation works that are poetic and filled with imagination. From the perspectives of materiality and metaphysics and using visual arts as the medium, his works investigate and present our relationship with the surrounding environment in our lifetime and share it with the audience.
We warmly welcome you to visit us and immerse yourself in Tsang's work, where you can experience the artist’s journey and his understanding of the passage of time and the cosmic cycle, both in the external physical world as well as the inner subconscious mind.
