Marian Ang is an accomplished contemporary painter based in Hong Kong. Although born in London, she relocated to Hong Kong in 2017 after graduating from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London in 2010. With a background in art history and research, Marian previously worked as a consultant for UNESCO, specialising in the protection of cultural heritage, particularly in combating art and antiquities trafficking.
In her latest endeavour, Marian not only delves into the fascinating stories of female artists but also invites us into their personal studios, as well as her own. Our team had the privilege of visiting Marian’s studio in Chai Wan, located on Hong Kong Island, where we engaged in a thoughtful discussion centred around the concept of a ”room of one‘s own.“ This concept holds great significance for all female artists, as it represents a space where they can write, paint, create, and focus solely on their artistic endeavours.
Marian’s upcoming solo exhibition, ”A Room of One‘s Own,“ is scheduled to commence on October 5th. This exceptional exhibition forms an integral part of the larger event titled ”Her Stories Unveiled: Art Charity Exhibition.“ We invite you to join us at the Touch Gallery, where you can personally explore the captivating ”Rooms“ and immerse yourself in the unique artistic narratives they hold.
