Dynamic duo Canevari and Pocetti has begun an experimental dialogue since 2018, thereby producing art that doubles as a secret language between them. Their eccentric fusion was documented in several duo exhibitions and musical album covers as their distinctive chemistry was recognised by international galleries and musicians. The symbolism in their creations permeate in the form of nature with a surrealistic twist - their works feature uncanny scenes and strange creatures contrasted by serene landscapes as the backdrop. Embellished by dreamlike lightning, this series exudes an eerie beauty veiled around the undisturbed haven.
The duo paint through a game-like approach inspired by Canevari’s heartwarming practice with his late father - he and his late father used to paint together like playing Exquisite Corpse, a game where a collection of images is collectively assembled as each member takes turns to add to the composition. Upon his father’s passing, the final game was involuntarily at halt, leaving a mourning Canevari unreciprocated on the canvas. As the secret language evolved between Canevari and Ornella, the final painting found its bittersweet closure, sealed by the duo’s tacit companionship.
