A tribute to the 80s golden age of street-culture in the US, JPS Art Gallery revived the scene of a New York City subway station with works of graffiti legend, Cope2 and two rising stars of the Hong Kong contemporary art scene, Afa Annfa and Chino Lam.
This revival is a celebration of the importance of street art and its legacy. Inspired by the concept of the cinematic classics, Somewhere in Time (1980), the exhibition sets the scene for meditation, allowing the audience to travel back in time. The modern subway doors are the portal of time that brings the audience back to the late 80s, a time when Cope2 and his crew were bombing the subways carriages and stations with their distinctive tags and graffiti, a time when street art was booming in the city.
