For Lehmann Maupin’s first exhibition since the re-opening of Hong Kong, and following the global onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the gallery is thrilled to present work by Heidi Bucher, Catherine Opie, Suh Se Ok, and Angel Otero. In light of the recent self-isolation measures taken across the globe, this exhibition, titled be/longing, examines the myriad ways each artist has dealt with feelings of alienation stemming from gender and sexual orientation discrimination, the longing for family and home, and feeling distance from a community. The title’s play on words evokes the human need to feel a sense of belonging as well as the universal longing for companionship and connection in moments of isolation.
I write about every exhibition I went to, and I go to almost every exhibition there is in Hong Kong. I shoot and edit my own photos for this blog.
I enjoy visiting artists and seeing their studios. I show them the way I see them, hopefully revealing something interesting.
I’m a proudly independent art blogger with no affiliation to any organisation. I blog because I love art and support the artists.
