Presented by The Henderson with support from Women in Lighting, the exhibition ‘Collected Light: From Legacy to Future’ showcases a collective of eight multidisciplinary women artists from diverse cultures, who have each forged visionary paths in their use of light as an artistic medium.
Featuring visual art, sculptures, digital installations, and moving image works ‘Collected Light: From Legacy to Future’ illuminates redefined perceptions of everyday life, memory and identity as presented by internationally celebrated and emerging light artists; Chila Kumari Singh Burman (British Indian), Carla Chan (Chinese), Jacqueline Hen (German), Sarah Lai (HK), Betty Ng / COLLECTIVE (HK), So Wing Po (HK) Raha Raissnia (b. Tehran) and Liz West (British).
The exhibition is a prelude to the opening later this year of The Henderson building, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, and takes as its starting point and inspiration the legacy of Zaha Hadid’s visionary interdisciplinary practice, her challenge to conventional perceptions, and her multi-sensory exploration of light and spatial connectivity. Opening on International Women’s Day the exhibition inspires inclusion and pushes creative boundaries for women creatives across multi-disciplines.
