Through the daily ritual of walking, across coastal terrain on Hong Kong Island and New Territories, I consider landscape as an escape rather than a view. On the edge of the Coast, on the boundary between earth and ocean, I explore, seeking memories beyond the buildings. From horizontal, the scenery transforms into an aerial view landscape, a map of my steps along the coast.”
Transformations of the landscape are translated through the forms and textures provided by the ancient and local maps.
With the courtesy of the Hong Kong Maritime Museum Caroline Bouquet uses the ancient Chinese maps of Hong Kong to show the changes in the appearance of the coastline.
In parallel she explores the old maps of “Ile of France” and the sceneries around Paris and Versailles.
