Beyond Territories – Made. Make. Making at Asia Society

  • Hong Kong Hong Kong (map)

“Beyond Territories – Made. Make. Making” showcases conceptual and built architecture projects and audio-visual installations which provide insights into Hong Kong’s past, and describe its present and explore its future through both temporal and spatial dimensions. In collaboration with Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), this exhibition aims to present professionalism and unique style of Hong Kong’s architects, and to reflect their architectural philosophy of integrating the past with the present as well as the East with the West.

The exhibition is interlinked by three keywords: MADE. MAKE. MAKING.

1. “MADE” documents the rich history, essence and legacy of Hong Kong, in which we bridge the past with the present and focus on both the well-known masters and young generation architects.

2. “MAKE” reflects the humanity within the city’s architectures, dives into Hong Kong’s neighbourhoods and local culture, and exhibits the rich and vivid local imagination and creativity.

3. “MAKING” reveals the various dilemma we face in the context of globalisation through transcending the architectural and material boundaries, and reflects on how contemporary cities can move beyond the present into a better future.

“Beyond Territories – Made. Make. Making” is curated by Ar. Bernard V. LIM Wan Fung (BBS, JP, PPHKIA), Ar. Roger WU Tsan Sum (RIBA) and Ar. Stanley SIU Kwok Kin (HKIA).

This exhibition is organized in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
