Ink Alchemy: Beyond Tradition at Alisan Fine Arts
One of my pet peeves — and yes, I have a lot, enough to create a lovely diverse menagerie out of them — is an idea of ink art as something fettered by tradition and conventions, unable to change and experiment. Of course that’s not even remotely true. Numerous artists from different generations have been constantly working on the reinterpretation of traditional genres like bird and flower, mountains and water, and even ink itself as a material.
