Exhibition “Absolute” by Xu Hongfei at Galerie Ora-Ora
Seemingly weightless and undoubtedly jolly about life and themselves, the series of Chubby Women sculptures aren’t really about actual women, but more like anthropomorphic personifications of some spiritual ideas. However, they speak to the viewer on different registers, so these comical nimble beauties can be seen as empowering figures.
