Song Dong: Window-Mirror at Pace

Song Dong: Window-Mirror at Pace

Continuing with his ‘Usefulness of Uselessness' series Song Dong creates a perfect metaphor for isolation with these installations of compressed windows.
One of the main purposes of the window is shielding and protecting from the outside but with a lack of view to that world, they provide you only with your own reflection and an illusionary space. So, is it a window, is it a mirror, is it a simplified skyline, is it a traditional folding screen, is it a preserved memory of torn down neighbourhoods, is it a perfect selfie object? Probably—as with all good conceptual art—all of these and so much more. (Feel free to tag me in any art selfies you take at this exhibition — I won’t judge, I swear.)
