Not familiar enough with Cantonese pop culture to appreciate all the references but the society pressure to live up to unrealistic social media standards and the homogeneity of the ideal image are rather universal theme. With the current schizophrenic demand to “stand out and fit in” much of the uniqueness is seen as imperfection which is ridiculous.
