Transcending the Gongbi Tradition at The Rotunda

Transcending the Gongbi Tradition at The Rotunda

Ah, what a joy to see most of my favorite gongbi masters at the same show! I have the softest spot possible for the works where traditional techniques are used with a contemporary twist in themes, colours and composition. My only complaint is that in the great tradition of ink artists—and gongbi masters in particular—all of these gorgeous works are covered with the most reflective glass possible (yes, I know that proper glass is expensive but can someone start subsidizing it for artists already?).

Works by Brian Chan Kwan-lok, Sam Cheng Tan-shan, Cherie Cheuk Ka-wai, Eunice Cheung Wai-man, Barbara Choi Tak-yee, Sue Lai Kwan-ting, Jess Leung Lai-man, Joey Leung Ka-yin and Wilson Shieh Ka-ho.
Curated by Dr Chen Fong-fong.

Exhibition period: 26.04–22.05.22
Gallery address: The Rotunda, Exchange Square, Central
