Christiane Pooley: Profundidad at Perrotin Gallery

Christiane Pooley: Profundidad at Perrotin Gallery

These landscapes may seem peaceful at a first glance but there’s some tension, an uneasy atmosphere, even vague eeriness in them. Deeply rooted in the complex—and filled with conflicts—history of Araucanía, region of Chile the artist was born, the paintings not only convey the stories and symbols but purposefully blur time and space perception for a viewer.
I am absolutely enchanted by those wide brushstrokes and washes of colours.
