August Sander: Faces at f22 foto space
Undoubtedly one of most important German portrait photographer of the twentieth century. By thoroughly documenting people from all classes and levels of society for his series “People of the 20th Century” he had not only preserved the visual stories of his characters but captured the historical landscape of the time and place (while also serving as a great influence and inspiration for the next generations of photographers).
Fun (and rather useless) fact: Mercury’s crater Sander is named after August Sander.
