Bertrand Lavier at MASSIMODECARLO
First solo in Hong Kong by a French artist whose wit and irony can only be compared with his curiosity and explorative drive. Most things at the exhibition aren’t what you may at first glance think they are:
That one big abstract, loosely painted artwork? It’s actually printed on a laser-jet printer.
That lush impasto cartoonish landscape with a French town name on it? It’s actually a road sign of that exact town.
That red neon sign? It’s actually says Colour Blue.
That mirror that looks like someone started washing it and got distracted? It’s actually an acrylic painting.
And the intriguing Picasso painting is the door of Citroen Picasso car.
