Kate Siu: unsung matter(s) 默 默 at Hidden Space

Kate Siu: unsung matter(s) 默 默 at Hidden Space

I wish you knew the kind of garbage heap
Wild verses grow on, paying shame no heed,
Like dandelions yellowing a fence,
Like burdock and bindweed...

Anna Akhmatova

Kate spends a lot of time scavenging for soil and unrefined clay, feathers and wires, plastic and metal scraps, urban flotsam and jetsam. The result can be described as peculiar architectural creatures or little urban beings made of all things Hong Kong merged together. Ascending together in the center of a gallery as the Tower of Babel or terraced mountain, they serve as a humble proposal for rebuilding from whatever we have and embracing the poetic beauty of the unlikely.
